Code of conduct
It is Shock's intent to provide quality baseball/softball playing opportunities. The following Code of Conduct Agreement is designed to focus on and instill core values and principles that are vital to the foundation of the Shock Organization. This code of Conduct Agreement shall be fulfilled by players, parents, coaches and members of the board. Any infraction of this Code by anyone associated with the organization that is deemed to be detrimental to a player, a team or the organization as a whole, may be cause for the immediate dismissal from the program. The board reserves the right to interpret and enforce this Code in its sole and absolute discretion. At all times, the undersigned agrees to and support:
1. Positive sportsmanship, and appropriate demeanor by everyone. This includes no swearing, throwing of equipment or obvious inappropriate emotions and/or reactions.
2. Safety and well-being of players, coaches, umpires and spectators.
3. First-class representation of the organization and its players, parents/families, coaches, umpires, and spectators.
4. Always playing within the rules of the game.
5. The understanding that participation with Shock is a privilege and is a player/family decision, completely voluntary, without any pressure.
6. A team dress code, appearance, and player uniform standards on and off the field. This means players will wear the appropriate clothing to practice and game uniforms will be clean prior to each game. Exceptions to this rule would be double-headers and some tournament schedules.
7. Physical preparation, mental preparation, fitness preparation will be vital to each players progress.
8. Timely payment of player fees is crucial for the functionality of the season .
9. Realization that all of our activities (instructional, competitive, or recreational) are designed to enhance the growth and development of all players, families, and coaches. Absences will require PRIOR notification to and authorization of the coach. Equal respect and value of every teammate regardless of age, size, experience, talent or performance. No criticism of any teammate in any manner at any time for any reason whatsoever.
10. Mutual respect, tolerance, understanding, and caring are applied in all team matters.
11. Decisions whether we understand, like or agree with them will be agreed upon by all staff. We will not allow “coaching from the stands”.
12. Emphasis on team spirit, team unity, team effort, and team success will be required by all involved with the organization.
13. The understanding and reality that some players may have more plate appearances, playing time, positions/roles, and starting assignments, than other players that is based on performance and attitude.
14. Acknowledgement that each of us is responsible for our actions.
15. Giving 100% of our attention, commitment, and effort to our team goals by all involved throughout the organization.
16. Importance of leaving each dugout, each ballpark, stands/bleachers and each situation in better shape than we found them.
17. Enforcement of this Code will be by coaches and/or the board. Infractions of this Code of Conduct may result in a suspension or dismissal from the program as determined by the manager and the Board’s Director of Baseball/Softball Operations. Any reinstatement shall be at the sole discretion of the manager and the Board’s Director of Baseball/Softball Operations.
18. The clear understanding that all medical, financial, and legal liability issues, activities, and consequences are the exclusive responsibility and domain of the player and/or his respective family, parent(s), and/or guardians(s). At no time shall Shock nor any of its associated personnel (coaches, board members, managers, volunteers,) be sued legally (individually, collectively, or organizationally) in any manner, for any expenses, damages (perceived or real, intentional or unintentional), losses, injuries, complaints/problems, complications, and/or inconveniences which may result from the participation with the team activities and/or team initiatives. We agree to release and forever hold harmless said organization and related personnel in all matters, legal, medical, personal, financial, and/or otherwise. No claims shall be made for any reason.
